The same craft, the same standards — now behind the counter as well. Everything we stock is what we use ourselves every single day.

Where it started

Hair has always mattered to me. Even as a kid I would spend days figuring out exactly which haircut I wanted before going to the barber. Detail, style and how a person carries themselves — that has always been my thing.

When I was 14 I asked my big brother for a beard trimmer. He bought me a hair clipper instead. That turned out to change my life.

The first cuts

I started out on my little brother in my parents' bathroom. About a year later friends began asking too, and at 16 I started charging for haircuts. As it grew, I moved the work into my own room and spent years there sharpening my skills.

Building the craft

At 18 I knew barbering was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Still in school, I was cutting up to eight clients a day and posting the work online, where people all over the Faroe Islands started noticing.

At 19 I rented my own space and renovated it myself. Shortly after turning 20 I finally moved out of my bedroom and into my own barbershop. Two months later it was finished.

Today Ollis Barber is built on courage, detail and quality. I have also completed my Level 3 Master Barber training at the London School of Barbering.

A family tradition

My barbering may have started at 14 — but the story goes back much further.

Around 100 years ago my great-grandfather worked as a cook aboard a ship. Back then the cook was often the barber on board too, cutting the crew's hair on those long trips at sea.

So.. maybe barbering has always been part of my family?

The next step was simple: give other barbers, salons and retailers in the Faroe Islands easy access to the same tools and products we trust in the chair every day — clippers, trimmers, styling products and everything around them.
